Ramadan hotels in Makkah & Madinah: when to book, where to stay
Ramadan is the busiest time of year at the two Holy Mosques, and the last ten nights are the peak of the peak. Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, depending on the moon sighting. Here is what you need to know to book in time and stay close to the Haram.
In short
- Book as early as you can, ideally several months before Ramadan, with free cancellation.
- Prices in the last ten nights can be several times the rest of the year, and some hotels require a minimum number of nights.
- The plazas fill up long before prayers; a hotel within 5 minutes saves you a lot of effort.
- Check the latest Umrah and Rawdah permit rules on the official Nusuk app before you travel.
When to book
Demand for Haram hotels in Ramadan is huge and the closest rooms sell out early, especially for the last ten nights and the 27th night. Book as soon as your dates are set, with free cancellation, and re-check the price later. If nothing close is left, consider splitting your stay: the start of Ramadan further out and cheaper, the last ten nights close by.
Where to stay
For daily Taraweeh and Qiyam, being close matters more than anything. Hotels on the plaza let you go back for suhoor and rest between prayers. On a tighter budget, areas 7–10 minutes away are a reasonable choice, but expect the walk to double in the crowds. Compare Makkah districts · Prices by distance
